Manchester City & Arsenal battled to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium in a match that had significant implications for the title race.

The result favored table-toppers Liverpool, who secured a win earlier in the day, further intensifying the thrilling three-way title race.

The game, billed as a defining moment in the title race, initially lacked goal action in the first half. Both teams seemed cautious, unwilling to take risks in what was described as a strategic battle between ‘master & apprentice’ managers Pep Guardiola & Mikel Arteta. Gabriel Jesus had a chance against his former club, but could only find the side netting from a cross by Ben White. Nathan Aké also had an opportunity from a corner but directed his header straight into the arms of David Raya before being forced off the field due to injury. Despite City dominating possession, clear-cut chances were scarce before halftime.

As the game progressed, Mateo Kovacic of City curled a shot just wide from distance, signaling City’s intent to break the deadlock. Arsenal started to gain momentum, with Bukayo Saka delivering a dangerous cross that narrowly missed Jesus. The pace of the game increased, with Kevin De Bruyne’s corner almost catching Raya off guard. Substitute Jérémy Doku & Erling Haaland had chances to score, but failed to convert.

The match remained tense & cagey, evident by only one shot on target from each side as it approached its conclusion. City’s impressive 57-game goal streak at the Etihad Stadium came to an end, as Arsenal’s resilient defense denied them a home goal for the first time since 2021. Despite the draw, City extended their unbeaten run to 23 matches, while Arsenal’s eight-game winning streak in the league was halted.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool victory earlier in the day solidified their position at the top of the standings. Arsenal retained their second spot with 65 points, while City followed closely behind with 64 points in third place. With just nine Premier League matches remaining for both teams, the title race has intensified, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season.
