Fenerbahce Sacks Jose Mourinho After Champions League Qualification Failure

‎Fenerbahçe has sacked legendary coach José Mourinho after failing to reach the Champions League group stage.

‎Mourinho joined the Turkish giants just over a year ago in June 2024 and guided them to a second-place finish in the Super Lig in his sole full season.

‎The setback came when they were eliminated by Benfica in the Champions League play-offs at the start of this campaign.

‎That would ultimately be the final nail in the coffin as Fenerbahce confirmed he had been relieved of his duties on Friday.

‎Despite not delivering a disastrous 2024/25 season, Fenerbahçe trailed far behind champions Galatasaray in the title race.

‎Mourinho faced criticism for failing to establish a clear vision or identifiable style of play.

‎The failure to reach the Champions League after failing to score in both legs against Benfica would have been a major concern for the club’s hierarchy.
