‎Nottinghamshire Police in the United Kingdom have charged former Premier League referee David Coote, who was dismissed from his role, with creating an indecent image of a child.

‎The 43-year-old, from Collingham, was charged in August and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later this week.

‎The service stated that the charge relates to a video file that was recovered by police back in February, and it is deemed to be a Category A file, the most serious in this case.

‎Coote was dismissed by PGMOL in December 2024 after a video allegedly showing him making offensive comments about then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp surfaced.

‎He was banned by UEFA until June 30, 2026, following another video that purportedly showed him snorting a white powder while in Germany at the EURO 2024. Coote has been given conditional bail.

‎Further legal proceedings are expected to determine additional actions or outcomes.
