João Félix Joins Al Nassr From Chelsea, Reuniting With Ronaldo In Saudi Arabia
Portuguese forward, João Félix, has signed a two-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, the club announced on Tuesday.
He will join Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.
Now 25, Felix made a high-profile transfer from Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2019, but his career has faced some setbacks since then.
”I’m here to spread joy. Let’s win together,” said Felix in a video posted on the club’s X account. A separate post said he had signed until 2027.
Felix’s former club, Benfica, had attempted to re-sign him earlier this summer but failed to reach a deal with Chelsea.
The Portuguese forward arrived in Saalfelden, Austria, to join Al Nassr for their preseason training camp.
At Al Nassr, Felix will be coached by Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, who was appointed earlier this month, and will team up with fellow Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Felix’s transfer remains one of the most costly in history, following his 2019 move to Atletico Madrid for €127.7 million (£110.5 million).
He has since had stints at Barcelona, AC Milan, and Chelsea, but has failed to score more than 10 goals a season since leaving Benfica.
He rejoined Chelsea on a seven-year contract in August 2024, having previously been in the squad as a loan player for the second half of the 2022-23 season.
He scored a total of 11 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea. Last season, Felix spent the second half on loan at AC Milan, where he scored three goals in 19 appearances.
Al Nassr is aiming to secure the Saudi Pro League title after finishing in a disappointing third place last season.
