Juventus To Part Ways With Motta As Search For New Manager Begins
Reports indicate that Juventus has concluded their partnership with manager Thiago Motta and has already reached out to Igor Tudor regarding the possibility of taking over as his successor at the club.
Saying the relationship between Juventus and Thiago Motta was strained would be an understatement.
Following back-to-back 3-0 defeats in Florence and a crushing 4-0 loss at home to Atalanta, the club’s owners and management have reportedly decided that it’s time for a change.
Although sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli appeared before the press to reiterate his faith in Motta, the move was only to buy time as there was still no agreement on the man to take over from the Italo-Brazilian.
The team’s lack of response in a critical league situation, with the risk of falling out of the Champions League spots, a qualification crucial to the club’s finances, had already convinced the directors that there was no time to waste.
The choice of coach, given the role he would have to play entering mid-season, was between Roberto Mancini and Igor Tudor.
Giuntoli was pushing for the former coach, but John Elkann would have preferred to entrust the team to a man of temperament, a former player who knew the environment wel
The club has therefore chosen former Lazio and Marseille coach Igor Tudor, who previously served as Andrea Pirlo’s assistant at Juventus during another challenging season for the Bianconeri.
It now appears that the managerial change could happen before the match against Genoa, contrary to initial expectations.
Previously, the management had planned to assess the team’s response before making a final decision.
In short, Motta’s adventure at Juventus seems to have come to an end. The Bianconeri will likely return to action with a new head coach to save what can be saved this season.
