‎Liverpool has finalized the transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in a deal valued at approximately £79 million.

‎The French international has signed a six-year contract and will join Anfield as Liverpool intensifies its efforts to strengthen its forward line for Arne Slot’s squad.

‎The Reds will reportedly pay Frankfurt a guaranteed £69 million fee up front, plus £10 million in performance-related add-ons.

‎Ekitike attracted Premier League interest after scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists last season, and he was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

‎Newcastle made a £70 million offer for the 23-year-old, but Frankfurt turned it down. Following this, Newcastle decided to withdraw from the transfer race.

‎Liverpool showed strong interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and were prepared to pay £120 million for the Swedish striker. Newcastle, however, made it clear that Isak was not for sale.

‎As a result, Liverpool turned their attention to Hugo Ekitike and completed his signing ahead of their pre-season tour in Hong Kong and Japan.

‎Ekitike joined Frankfurt on an initial loan from Paris Saint-Germain in February 2024, before the move was made permanent two months later.

‎Internationally, he has not yet been capped at senior level for France, but has played five times for the Under-21 side.

‎He joins a refreshed Liverpool squad gearing up to defend their Premier League title. The club has already added Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez to the ranks.

‎Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili also arrived, having agreed to the move last summer.
