Liverpool knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup with a dramatic 2-0 victory on Sunday, January 8th, 2024.

The match was quite the nail-biter at the Emirate Stadium on Sunday evening, with Mikel Arteta’s side dominating the first half but failing to convert their chances.

In the second half, Liverpool turned the tide and found the net twice to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

In the 80th minute, an own goal by Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior off a Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick put Liverpool ahead.

In stoppage time, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz sealed the win with a powerful strike to make it 2-0.

This result is significant for several reasons:

  • It marks Liverpool’s first FA Cup win over Arsenal since the 2001 final.
  • It extends Arsenal’s recent slump, as they have now only won one of their last six games in all competitions.
  • It strengthens Liverpool’s position in the title race, as they remain five points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League.
