Michael Olise Set to Join Bayern from Crystal Palace
Bayern Munich are set to secure the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, dealing a significant blow to Chelsea’s transfer aspirations for the summer.
The 22-year-old further solidified his growing reputation towards the conclusion of last season through a string of impressive performances for a revived team under manager, Oliver Glasner.
Several Premier League clubs had aimed to convince the French youth international, to depart Selhurst Park, with Chelsea believed to have led the race for his signature.
However, Olise has rejected Chelsea for the second consecutive summer and opted to join Bayern Munich, now under the management of Vincent Kompany.
Olise has a release clause in his current contract at Palace but it is believed to have a complex structure, potentially rising above £60m.
Having decided to join the recently dethroned Bundesliga champions, Bayern is anticipated to promptly finalize an agreement with Palace, as reported by The Athletic.
Speculations indicate that Olise desired a transfer to a Champions League club, a criterion met by Bayern Munich, thereby putting clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United at a comparative disadvantage.
Chelsea, along with Newcastle United and Manchester United, will now need to seek out alternative options in the transfer market.
The Blues are, however, already well stocked in terms of wide options with the presence of players such as Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk in their squad.
Olise is currently on international duty with France, after being named in the squad for the Paris Olympics later this summer.
