Egypt star player, Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is shrouded in doubt, with only a year left on his deal after his brief stints at Barcelona Real Madrid, and Saudi Arabia.

Andres Iniesta expressed confidence that Mohamed Salah would be a great asset for Barcelona.

SportXparte reports that Mohamed Salah is currently in good form.

He has a year left on his contract at Anfield, and there’s growing talk about his future.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have been trying to lure him to the region for a while. His name has also been in the spotlight in Spain, especially at Barcelona and Real Madrid in the last few years.

However, Salah remained faithful throughout Jurgen Klopp’s era and now with Arne Slot as Liverpool’s new manager, the Egyptian has chosen to stay in the Premier League.

In 2020, Salah mentioned he was open to joining Barcelona.

“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again,” Salah had said.

Before now, Barcelona president Joan Laporta hinted that Salah was interested in a switch.

Speaking with Spanish radio station RAC1, he said: “Top players want to join Barca, that’s clear. I can’t say if we’re in talks for [Robert] Lewandowski and [Mohamed] Salah or not, or in the club, they’ll tell me that I’m creating problems in the negotiations.”

True, Barcelona committed to Salah during the summer of 2022, promising him the opportunity to join their team the next season once his current contract expired.

However, this promise was not sufficient, and Salah ultimately signed a new agreement with Liverpool.

Iniesta has expressed his disappointment that the Barcelona giants failed to secure a deal for Salah.

Speaking on the Vamos La Liga podcast, he insisted: “Signing Mohamed Salah would have been a special deal for Barcelona.”

Salah’s deal saw him become the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

The forward has continued to be a key player for the Reds ever since.

Salah netted 30 goals during the 2022/23 campaign and followed that up with a further 25 last season.
