Napoli Signs Rasmus Højlund On Loan From Manchester United With An Obligation To Buy
Napoli has officially signed Rasmus Hojlund, the 22-year-old Danish forward, on loan from Manchester United.
The deal includes an obligation to buy for €44 million if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. Napoli has completed the acquisition of Hojlund from Manchester United.
The two clubs have agreed on a loan deal for the first season in which Napoli will pay €6 million and an automatic buyout, in the event of Champions League qualification at the end of this season, for a further €44 million.
The 22-year-old Dane is therefore ready for his new adventure in Italy, where he played three years ago with Atalanta. Napoli have also included an 80-million-euro sale clause in the Dane’s contract.
Hojlund played 95 games for Manchester United across two seasons, scoring 26 goals, with his best campaign coming in his first year: 16 goals in 43 appearances.
Last season, in a struggling side that finished 15th in the Premier League, he netted 10 times in 52 games. The Dane was keen to start a new chapter with Napoli, seeking a larger role in the team.
At Napoli, he could become a main man, especially with Romelu Lukaku’s long injury and Lorenzo Insigne no longer the primary forward.
On Deadline Day, Napoli also announced the return of Eljif Elmas.
