Netherlands To Face Poland & Finland In World Cup Qualifiers, Spain Draws Türkiye

The Netherlands will not be facing Türkiye in EURO 2024 after suffering a quarter-final defeat to Spain in the UEFA Nations League.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw before Spain triumphed 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

The defeat means ‘Oranje’ has been drawn to Group G of the World Cup qualifiers.

Therefore, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, and Malta will be the Netherlands’ opponents during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying cycle in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The three-time World Cup finalists will begin their qualifying campaign on June 7th with a match against Finland in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Three days later, Malta will visit the Netherlands, followed by Poland on September 4th.

After facing Poland, the Dutch team will have away games against Lithuania on September 7th and Malta on October 9th.

Finland will visit the Netherlands on October 12th before ‘Oranje’ round off their qualifying campaign with an away game in Poland on November 14th and a home game against Lithuania on November 17th.

Spain to meet Türkiye

Having won Sunday’s quarter-final, Spain will compete against Turkey, Bulgaria, and Georgia in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers.

The reigning European champions will start their qualifying cycle with an away game in Bulgaria on September 4th before visiting Türkiye on September 7th. Spain will host their first qualifiers on October 11th and 14th when Georgia and Bulgaria come to visit the Iberian peninsula.

‘La Roja’ will conclude their qualifying campaign with an away match against Georgia on November 15th, followed by a home game against Turkey on November 18th, which will be the final day of the European qualifiers.

Twelve group winners will qualify for the World Cup. The twelve runners-up will battle for the final four World Cup tickets with four unknown teams from the UEFA Nations League.
