Newcastle Prepares Opening Bid For Crystal Palace Captain Marc Guehi
Newcastle United are preparing to submit a £40 million offer for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, as they attempt to turn around a challenging summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s team has already missed out on multiple targets this summer and is finding it difficult to compete with the league’s top clubs.
João Pedro and Liam Delap both decided to join Chelsea, while Hugo Ekitike snubbed them to join Premier League champions Liverpool.
According to The Times, Newcastle is now ready to reignite its interest in Guehi and is ready to make a £40 million offer.
It is understood that Newcastle’s bid is around £10 million short of Crystal Palace’s asking price for the England international.
Guehi has just one year remaining on his contract in South London, and both Chelsea and Liverpool have also been strongly linked with a potential move.
