Playing In Champions League Final Hasn’t Sunk In – Says Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund forward, Jadon Sancho, expressed disbelief at the opportunity to compete in the Champions League final against Real Madrid at Wembley this Saturday, especially considering his previous challenges with limited playing time at Manchester United.
Having transferred from Dortmund to Manchester United for 85 million euros ($92 million) in August 2021, Jadon Sancho struggled to secure a consistent position in the team. Following a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, he was loaned back to Germany in January.
Dortmund, who placed fifth in the Bundesliga, are aiming for their second Champions League title following their victory in 1997.
“To be fair, it felt surreal. Again, it still hasn’t hit me,” he told CNN in an interview published on Thursday.
“It’s kind of crazy, you know, I don’t think anyone would have expected this me being in the Champions League final, especially where I came from. I’m just happy.”
Sancho expressed his excitement at facing his former Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham in the final and mentioned his intention to compete with Real teammate Vinicius Jr for the Ballon d’Or.
