PSG Announces Signing Of French Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier From Lille
PSG announced on Saturday that they have signed French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a contract extending to 2030.
Media reports pegged the transfer fee at about €40 million ($47 million). The 23-year-old is expected to challenge Gianluigi Donnarumma for the first-choice spot, with Donnarumma entering the final year of his contract, in Luis Enrique’s squad.
”I am a kid who is living his dream. Ever since I was small I wanted to play at the highest level,” Chevalier said.
”I’m really delighted to be here. I will wear this shirt with passion and ambition.”
Calais-born Lucas Chevalier came through Lille’s youth system and spent time on loan at Valenciennes before establishing himself as Lille’s first-choice keeper in the 2022-23 season.
He was named Ligue 1’s goalkeeper of the year for the 2024-25 season by the UNFP, the French players’ union.
”Lucas is one of the leading goalkeepers in France and Europe and a fantastic addition to our team as we continue to build everything for the long term based on the collective,” said PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
PSG, champions of Ligue 1 and the Champions League, will face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.
