RB Leipzig Open Talks With Liverpool For Harvey Elliott Transfer

‎RB Leipzig has approached Liverpool regarding the possible transfer of Harvey Elliott.

‎Although talks are not yet advanced, discussions between the two clubs are ongoing.

‎According to The Athletic, Leipzig was among the clubs interested in signing Elliott. Liverpool has valued the midfielder at over £40 million, including a buy-back clause, or above £50 million if no buy-back option is included.

‎Leipzig considers the 22-year-old Harvey Elliott to be a direct replacement for Xavi Simons, who could leave the German club in the final weeks of the transfer window.

‎The club had been in talks with Chelsea regarding the potential transfer of Dutch international Simons, who scored 10 Bundesliga goals and provided six assists during the 2024-25 season.

‎Elliott started just two Premier League matches for Liverpool in 2024-25, both after Arne Slot’s side had already secured the title. He made 28 appearances in total over all competitions, registering five goals and three assists.

‎The central midfielder said in June that he was wary of “wasting years of my career” due to his lack of game time at Anfield.

‎“Nothing makes me want to leave,” Elliott said.

‎“I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But as I said, most importantly, it’s just about what’s best for my career.”

‎Elliott was Player of the Tournament at this summer’s Under-21 European Championship, as England sealed a second successive title with victory over Germany in June’s final.

‎The midfielder scored five goals, including one in the final and two in the semi-final defeat of the Netherlands, and was one of only two England players to be part of both the victorious 2023 and 2025 squads under Lee Carsley.

‎Since joining Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, Elliott has made 147 appearances for the club. He also spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

‎The England Under-21 international has won six trophies during his time at Anfield.
