‎Real Madrid defender, Raul Asencio, is set to face trial after being accused of sharing a sexual video without consent, a court in Gran Canaria announced on Thursday.

‎The case also involves three players from Real Madrid’s youth team, who are accused of recording and distributing explicit videos of two teenage women.

‎One of the women was reportedly underage at the time of the incident, which took place at a beach club in Gran Canaria in June 2023.

‎Women’s rights have been a highly sensitive issue in Spain since the controversy surrounding former football chief Luis Rubiales, who kissed national team player Jenni Hermoso without consent after the 2023 World Cup final.

‎In this context, Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio, 22, is facing trial for allegedly sharing a private sexual video without consent.

‎Prosecutors accuse him of committing two crimes against privacy after he received the recording and showed it to a friend.

‎They are seeking a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, according to judicial documents.

‎One of the women accuses the four players, while the other victim has left Asencio, who was a Real youth-team player at the time of the incident, out of her accusation.

‎Asencio, who has denied the allegations, did not immediately respond to a request for comment made to Real Madrid. He was a Real youth-team player at the time of the alleged incident.
