Paul Scholes, a revered figure at Manchester United, didn’t mince words as he criticized Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes following the club’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday.

Expressing dissatisfaction with Rashford’s performance, Scholes highlighted the forward’s lackluster display, resulting in his substitution after 61 minutes. Scholes also didn’t spare Fernandes, attributing blame to the Portuguese midfielder for disrupting the team’s formation.

In a post-match assessment, Scholes appeared visibly irked by Rashford’s reaction to being taken off. “What’s his surprise about?  Why does he believe he should still be on the pitch? He was causing more harm than good to the team,” expressed Scholes.

Acknowledging Rashford’s undeniable talent showcased in the previous season, Scholes lamented the player’s current form and behavior on the pitch. However, his recent lackadaisical attitude, walking back, and subsequent behavior upon substitution – I don’t think it bodes well for the team,” Scholes commented to Premier League Productions.

Manchester United’s current position in seventh place on the Premier League table reflects their struggle to find consistency this season, amassing 24 points. Erik ten Hag’s side faces a daunting fixture against Chelsea in their upcoming match on Wednesday night, aiming to rebound from this setback.
