Šeško To Newcastle? Manchester United Delay Could Cost Them In €90m Race

‎Manchester United are currently facing a transfer dilemma after Newcastle United showed a strong willingness to meet RB Leipzig’s €90 million valuation for Benjamin Sesko.

‎As of Tuesday morning, the German club was reportedly satisfied with Newcastle’s bid, leaving Manchester United with limited time to submit a competing offer.

‎Manchester United had identified Benjamin Sesko as their primary striker target, considering him available and reasonably priced compared to Ollie Watkins.

‎However, Newcastle United’s willingness to meet Leipzig’s €90 million valuation has complicated United’s plans. This situation forces United to consider whether they are willing to overpay or risk missing out on their preferred target.

‎Since Ineos assumed control, there has been a conscious effort to avoid repeating high-profile transfer missteps such as Jadon Sancho (whose transfer situation we also covered), Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund.

‎In such cases, United tried to negotiate but ended up paying inflated fees after lengthy discussions.

‎They are believed to have been assessing Sesko’s commitment, only willing to make a significant financial investment if they are convinced he is genuinely eager to join the club.

‎However, on Monday night, it was widely suggested that Newcastle is making their initial €80 million offer, rising to €90 million with add-ons, based on signals that Sesko wants the move to St James’ Park.

‎If Manchester United miss out on Sesko, they may revisit their interest in Ollie Watkins, though securing the Aston Villa forward remains a challenge. The club has been exploring other striker options as potential alternatives.

‎Beyond the striker position, United also hopes to reinforce their squad in midfield and goalkeeper roles this summer. Strengthening these areas is a key part of the club’s overall recruitment plan for the transfer window.

‎Spending close to €90 million on a single player would almost certainly affect their ability to act elsewhere.

‎RB Leipzig has been aiming all summer to ignite a bidding war in the Premier League, and they are now on track to receive a record-breaking fee for their star forward.
