Spain Gets New Record As Nigeria’s Super Eagles Drops To 39th In Latest FIFA Rankings
The Nigerian men’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has dropped to 39th in the most recent FIFA rankings, one place lower than their previous standing at 38th.
Sportxparte reports that Spain’s rapid ascent in the global rankings is truly impressive as they have climbed five places to secure the third position, marking their first time at the top of the table.
Despite the absence of a manager following the resignation of Finidi George, the Super Eagles continue to shine.
They occupy a prominent position within the top five teams on the African continent, a testament to their prowess.
Meanwhile, Morocco, currently ranked 14th globally, has maintained its position as Africa’s leading team, further reinforced by their historic semi-final appearance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Senegalese team, the Teranga Lions, ranks 19th globally, followed by Egypt at 36th and Ivory Coast at 38th, securing the third and fourth positions in Africa, respectively.
Despite this slight decrease in their global rankings, Nigeria has secured a position within the top five teams in Africa.
The remaining top ten teams in Africa include Tunisia (41), Algeria (46), Cameroon (51), Mali (53), and South Africa (57).
On the international stage, Spain, the winners of the 2024 UEFA Euro, have risen to the third position, a notable improvement from their eighth place in the previous rankings.
The runners-up, England, have also seen an increase in their standing, moving up to the fourth position.
Argentina has maintained its position at the top of the rankings, adding the 2024 Copa America trophy to its 2022 FIFA World Cup victory. France has remained in second place, demonstrating their consistent performance.
