Thomas Frank Emerges As Top Candidate To Replace Postecoglou At Tottenham

‎Multiple reports on Monday indicate that Brentford manager Thomas Frank is Tottenham’s preferred candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou.

‎Postecoglou was sacked last Friday after just two seasons in charge, despite leading Tottenham to end a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League last month.

‎Thomas Frank, who has managed Brentford since 2018, guided the club back to the Premier League in 2021 after a 74-year absence and has firmly established them in the top flight.

‎His contract runs until 2027, and hiring him would likely cost Tottenham around £10 million ($14 million) in compensation. Frank’s success at Brentford has made him a top contender for the Tottenham job.

‎The BBC reported that a formal approach from Tottenham is expected in the coming days.

‎Spurs will play in the Champions League next season thanks to their Europa League success in Bilbao, where they beat Manchester United 1-0.

‎However, Postecoglou paid the price for a miserable Premier League season as Tottenham finished 17th after losing 22 of their 38 games.

‎Frank started his coaching career with the Danish national team’s youth setup before spending three years at Brøndby.

‎He initially joined Brentford as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach after Dean Smith left for Aston Villa.

‎After narrowly missing out in the 2020 Championship play-off final, Brentford secured promotion through the play-offs the following year.

‎Since then, Frank has established the Bees as a competitive Premier League force, recording 13th, ninth, 16th, and 10th-place finishes despite consistently selling some of his best players.

‎Bryan Mbeumo is poised to become the next major transfer from Brentford, with Manchester United interested in the Cameroon striker who scored 20 Premier League goals last season.

‎Despite this, reports indicate that Thomas Frank would like to take Mbeumo with him if he moves to Tottenham.
