Tottenham’s victory against Everton uplifted their standing in the Premier League, but the celebratory mood was tempered by a growing list of injuries, setting the stage for a potential squad strain before their upcoming clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 2-1 triumph against Everton saw Spurs ascend to fourth place, a noteworthy accomplishment according to manager Ange Postecoglou.

He expressed satisfaction with the outcome, acknowledging the challenges posed by Everton while lauding his team’s performance.

However, this victory came at a cost, unveiling the vulnerability of the squad.

The defensive linchpin, Cristian Romero, was forced off the field at half-time due to a suspected hamstring issue, adding to the injury concerns. Additionally, Richarlison, despite contributing significantly with a goal, faced a back problem, leading to his substitution with 30 minutes left on the clock.

Postecoglou revealed, “Romero felt tightness in his hamstring just before half-time, so we had to take him off.”

Concerning Richarlison, he mentioned, “He’s okay. He had a sore back yesterday, but he was eager to start today. He got through the game, but I sensed we’d have to substitute him at some point.”

The sidelined duo joins a considerable absentee list at Hotspur Way, leaving uncertainty about their availability for the imminent showdown against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The injury roster includes James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, both nursing injuries since their encounters against Chelsea in November. Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, and Alfie Whiteman further compound Tottenham’s injury woes.
