‎Tottenham Hotspur is taking Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to the High Court.

‎Spurs have initiated legal proceedings against Ratcliffe’s company, Ineos Automotive.

‎According to BBC Sport, court documents reveal that Spurs have filed a commercial claim related to a terminated sponsorship agreement.

‎Ineos Automotive and Spurs signed a five-year sponsorship agreement in 2022. After Ratcliffe bought into United, it emerged that Ineos and Spurs were to break the contract.

‎Spurs and Ineos had announced a multi-million pound five-year deal in December 2022 to promote the Ineos Grenadier car as the club’s “official 4×4 vehicle partner”.

‎However, talks have been ongoing since at least February over Ineos withdrawing two years before the expiry of the deal.

‎The negotiations appear to have broken down, with Tottenham filing their claim on June 12. This was less than a month after they defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final to secure a spot in the Champions League.

‎An Ineos statement read, “Ineos Automotive has been a partner of Tottenham Hotspur since 2022, expanding on a partnership agreement that Ineos Group had in place with the club since 2020.

‎”We have a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract, and in December 2024, we exercised that right.”

‎However, it’s now emerged that Spurs are taking Ineos to the High Court.
