‎Tottenham Hotspur defender, Destiny Udogie, has been identified as the Premier League footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent on a north London street.

‎The incident reportedly took place on the night of Saturday, 6 September, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police were called to the scene, and the agent was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

‎The suspect is also under investigation for alleged blackmail and making threats against Udogie’s companion.

‎He has not been charged with any offence. There is no suggestion that the agent concerned is Udogie’s agent.

‎The alleged incident happened during the September international break, when Udogie was not involved with Italy. He has not taken any time out from the game and was back in action for Spurs in their next fixture the league win at West Ham on 13 September, when he came on as a substitute.

‎Udogie’s name was disclosed in Italy just hours before Spurs began their Champions League home match against Copenhagen on Tuesday, with the defender starting.

‎A Spurs spokesperson said, “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

‎The Metropolitan police said they were called at 11.14pm on 6 September to reports of a man in his 20s having been threatened with a gun in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.

‎A spokesperson said, “Officers spoke to the victim and, during the course of their investigation, it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.
