Transfer Deadline Day: Chelsea Stops Striker From Joining Wolves
Reports emerging on Wednesday revealed that Chelsea has stopped Armando Broja from joining Wolves.
A few hours before the January transfer window closed, Wolves failed in their bid to secure a loan deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja.
SportXparte reports that with Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic already on loan and top-scorer Hwang Hee-chan away on international duty, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil is in urgent need of additional striking options before the winter transfer window closes on February 1st at 11 pm.
However, according to Sky Sports, the 22-year-old Albanian international is no longer among the available options.
Broja, who previously impressed while on loan at Southampton, has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea has rejected Wolves’ loan offer and instead opted to sell Broja in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability regulations.
Earlier reports suggested that both Wolves and Fulham were hoping to secure Broja for a fee below £35m, while Chelsea was seeking £50m. Additionally, Wolves have been linked with a potential January move for former Aston Villa striker Danny Ings, but it seems that this possibility is also unlikely to materialize.
It is anticipated that Danny Ings will attract attention in the closing hours of the transfer window, however, West Ham is expected to retain the 31-year-old until the end of the season.
In the meantime, it has been reported that Wolves have reached an agreement to acquire Noha Lemina, Mario Lemina’s brother, from Paris Saint-Germain. According to Sky, the 18-year-old is unlikely to immediately feature in the first team.
