Arsenal Fall Short Of The League Title Because Of Their Mentality – Says Rodri

Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has claimed that Arsenal’s mentality was lacking in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

Manchester City secured their fourth league title by winning their last game of the season against West Ham. However, City could not overcome both Arsenal and Liverpool during their title-winning campaign.

In City’s 3-1 victory against West Ham, Spanish midfielder Rodri sealed their fourth consecutive league title under Pep Guardiola, with City finishing two points ahead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Rodri claimed that Arsenal’s decision to settle for a draw in their match at the Etihad Stadium on March 31 cost them the title.

Despite City being unable to defeat Arsenal in all three meetings this season and failing to win against third-placed Liverpool in two matches, Rodri’s comments stand.

When asked how his side achieves such consistent success, Rodri told Optus Sport: “To be honest, I think it’s in here,” pointing to his head. “It’s the mentality. Arsenal also deserves to win the league, they had an unbelievable season, but I think the difference was in here (pointing to his head again).”

He continued, “When they came here, they faced us at the Etihad, I saw them and said: ‘Ah, these guys, they don’t want to beat us, they just want a draw.’ “And that mentality, I don’t think we would do it the same way. And we caught them. In the end, if you give us one point, we will win the last seven, or eight games even though it’s so tough. So I think it comes down to mentality.”
