AS Roma Makes Sumptuous Offer For Leeds United ‘Forgotten’ Player
Reports from Spain indicate that AS Roma is preparing a three-year contract offer for Diego Llorente, potentially allowing Leeds United to sever ties with the player.
Previously, there were doubts about Roma’s interest in signing the 30-year-old, as they were considering another one-year loan option.
However, Italian media outlet Siamo La Roma now suggests that Roma is working on a long-term contract proposal, aiming to keep Llorente at the club until the later stages of his career.
Llorente, who has spent the past 18 months away from Leeds United, has made it clear to the club that he does not intend to return to Elland Road this summer, and it remains uncertain if he will participate in pre-season training.
Both Llorente and Leeds are hopeful that a deal can be reached before the training begins, but the specific details of Roma’s approach to Leeds are still unknown.
Italian media reports suggest that Roma values Llorente at approximately £2.5m, which would result in a significant loss for Leeds compared to the £18m they paid for him in 2020.
Despite speculation about Llorente’s future following former manager Jose Mourinho’s departure from Roma, it now appears that he will remain at the club.
