Barcelona Makes Shock Opening Bid For Hull City Star Winger
Barcelona has reportedly made an offer to bring in Hull City winger, Jadon Philogene on loan for the 2024/25 season.
Barcelona is keen to refresh its squad following a disappointing season but must navigate its tight budget due to well-documented financial constraints, leading Barcelona to adopt inventive transfer strategies.
In search of more attacking firepower, Barcelona has been linked with 22-year-old Philogene, and Sky Sports Germany states an official bid has been submitted.
Barcelona is aiming to secure Philogene on a loan deal with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer for a fee of around £20m.
Philogene, who emerged from the Aston Villa academy, has drawn interest from Everton and West Ham United as well. His standout performance in the second tier of English football saw him record 12 goals and six assists.
Hull owner Acun Ilicali recently stressed that he plans to reject all offers for his top talents unless players like Philogene specifically ask to leave the club.
“[Executive vice-chairman Tan Kesler] is feeling like there will be some offers coming and I will underline something again; if you ask me, I will never sell them,” he told the 1904 Club podcast.
“The only reason [he would sell them] is if they will come to me and say that they want to go. I advised [Keane Lewis] Potter not to go, and if he had stayed that year, it would be good for him and us together, and one year later, he could go.
“Again, about these boys, if they feel like they’re going to play and they’re going to be successful, for me, their future is more important [than] my benefits.”
There are suggestions that Barcelona may consider selling Raphinha to generate transfer funds, although the Brazilian winger wishes to remain at the club.
Additionally, there are reports that Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati be allowed to depart, despite their reluctance, following an unsuccessful loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion.
