Bayern Munich Announces Signing Of Michael Olise From Crystal Palace
Bayern Munich have signed France winger, Michael Olise on a five-year deal from Crystal Palace, the Bundesliga club said on Sunday.
German media reports suggest that Bayern Munich will pay a total of 60 million euros, including additional fees, to secure the services of the London-born player at the Allianz Arena.
Despite attracting keen interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and reportedly Newcastle, the 22-year-old winger opted for a move to the Bundesliga. He is set to join forces in the attacking lineup with Bayern’s No. 9, Harry Kane.
“This is a great challenge and exactly what I was looking for,” Olise said in a post on Bayern’s X.
Palace chairman Steve Parish said in a statement: “We are hugely proud of what Michael has achieved at Crystal Palace, a club where he has developed greatly as a player.
“We respect his desire to further test himself at the highest level of world football, and I would like to personally wish him the very best for his next adventure with Bayern Munich in Germany which I’m sure we will all follow closely.”
Olise scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 appearances last season, despite a campaign impacted by injuries.
“I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years,” Olise said.
Despite his English birthplace, Olise has represented the France Under-21 team in seven matches, owing to his French-Algerian heritage from his mother. He has now earned a spot in the France for the upcoming Paris Olympics scheduled to commence in July.
