Bayern Munich Announces The Appointment Of Vincent Kompany

Bayern Munich has confirmed the appointment of Vincent Kompany, who departs Burnley to assume the head coaching position at the Bundesliga club on a three-year contract.

After choosing to part company with Thomas Tuchel after the season, Bayern Munich faced a turbulent period in their find for a successor, as Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick all declined offers to take over the managerial position.

Crystal Palace turned down an offer for Oliver Glasner, a potential reunion with Hansi Flick was dismissed, and Thomas Tuchel ultimately opted against remaining with the club after rumors of a possible change in direction by Bayern Munich.

This ultimately led Bayern Munich to make a move for Burnley’s Kompany, and he has now been officially appointed.

“I am looking forward to the challenge of Bayern. It is a great honor to be able to work for this club Bayern is an institution in international football,” New Head coach, Vincent Kompany said.

“As a coach, you have to stand for who you are as a person: I love having the ball, being creative and we also have to be aggressive on the pitch and courageous. I am now looking forward to the very elementary things: working with the players, and forming a team. If the base is there, success will come.” He stated.

“We all at the club agree that Vincent Kompany is the right coach for FC Bayern and are very much looking forward to working with him,” added Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

The appointment of Kompany comes as a surprise, especially considering his inability to prevent Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League this season, falling considerably short of the mark.

However, he did make a strong impression with them in the Championship last season, guiding them to the title and implementing an appealing brand style of football at the club.

“We understand the allure and prestige of a club like Bayern Munich and respect Vincent’s ambition to explore new opportunities,” Burnley said in a statement. “We wish only the best for Vincent and would like to put on record our appreciation for his dedication every single day he was a part of this football club.”

Before his time in Burnley, the Manchester City legend managed Anderlecht for two seasons, during which the club secured fourth and third-place finishes in the Belgian league.
