Bayern Munich Reaches Agreement In Principle To Sign João Palhinha

Bayern Munich have finally agreed a deal to sign Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha, numerous reports have revealed.

Palhinha was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich last summer and even travelled to Munich in the final moments of the transfer window anticipating a deal, but the two clubs could not reach an agreement on the transfer fee

12 months later and a deal has been struck. Florian Plettenberg was the first to confirm the two sides had reached an agreement, before Nizaar Kinsella revealed the terms of the deal on the table.

Bayern have agreed to pay an initial €51m (£43.2m) to sign Palhinha, with a further €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons.

Some minor details still need to be sorted out, but Palhinha, currently representing Portugal at Euro 2024, is nearing the completion of the transfer he openly expressed eagerness to secure.

“As far as my future is concerned, both clubs know where I want to be in a month,” Palhinha told the media last June. “I am currently concentrating on my work with the national team and on making history for my country.”

At 28 years old, he participated in 39 matches across various competitions for Fulham last season, earning praise for his performances under Marco Silva’s management. His addition will greatly enhance the quality of Vincent Kompany’s Bayern squad.

Rumors indicated that Bayern Munich were ready to pursue other options if their most recent offer for Palhinha was rejected. Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte and Everton’s Amadou Onana are reportedly on the radar of the German club.

However, that no longer appears necessary as Bayern are close to wrapping up another deal in what is becoming an expensive summer.

After agreeing to a €12 million (£10.2 million) compensation fee to acquire manager Vincent Kompany from Burnley, Bayern promptly activated the €30 million (£25.4 million) clause of center-back Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart to strengthen their defense.

Crystal Palace winger, Michael Olise, is nearing a transfer to Bayern Munich in a deal valued at approximately £60 million. The club continues to show interest in Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons.
