Chelsea Accelerate Interest In Semenyo With Rivals Prepared To Trigger Clause

‎Chelsea have taken their first step toward signing Antoine Semenyo, moving ahead of rivals Manchester United and Liverpool in the race for the Bournemouth forward.

‎It reports that the Blues have reached out to Semenyo’s representatives to register their interest and begin early discussions over a potential January move.

‎The 25-year-old Ghana international has a £65million release clause in his contract, signed in the summer, which is active for the first ten days of next month’s transfer window.

‎Semenyo has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most in-form forwards this season, registering eight goals and three assists in 16 games for Bournemouth.

‎His performances have attracted strong interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Chelsea have now stepped up their pursuit as they aim to win what is expected to be a fierce race for his signature, having seen Tottenham explore a move in the summer.

‎Chelsea holds a longstanding interest in Semenyo, which dates back to a failed bid for the player, then at Bristol City, in 2019.

‎Bournemouth’s hierarchy is growing resigned to losing Semenyo due to the sheer volume of interest in him.

‎His release clause, structured to give the club time to find a replacement within the same window, is viewed across the game as both reasonable and accessible. Semenyo has scored three goals for Ghana since making his senior debut in 2022.

‎He is also expected to be one of the Black Stars’ standout players at next summer’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
