Colombia Forward Luis Diaz Joins Bayern Munich From Liverpool

‎Bayern Munich has officially announced the signing of Liverpool and Colombia forward Luis Diaz on a four-year contract valued at up to €75 million (£65 million).

‎The transfer had been widely anticipated, and the deal was finalized quickly following negotiations and a medical in Bavaria.

‎Diaz will join former Premier League star Harry Kane in Bayern’s squad and may serve as a replacement for Leroy Sane on the left wing.

‎The Colombian becomes Bayern’s marquee capture of the summer, following the signings of Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof.

‎During his four years with Liverpool, Diaz won one Premier League title, an FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and a Community Shield.

‎Díaz had the most productive season of his Liverpool career last year, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and helping the team win the Premier League title.

‎He joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 in a deal worth up to €49 million. Over his time at the club, he scored 41 goals in 148 appearances. His departure will assist Liverpool in balancing their summer transfer budget.

‎The club has already spent around £290 million on new players, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Hugo Ekitike.

‎It also increases the revenue from player transfers to £190 million under sporting director Richard Hughes, who assumed the role last summer. Liverpool may now formalize their interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, whose availability was previously mentioned by Slot earlier this month.

‎The 25-year-old was omitted from Newcastle’s preseason tour to Asia due to a thigh injury. Additionally, Isak has notified the club of his desire to explore a move away from St. James’ Park.
