Daniele De Rossi To Continue As Roma Manager Beyond This Season
AS Roma’s owners have announced that former player Daniele De Rossi will continue as the manager for the next season and the “foreseeable future.” This decision comes after De Rossi took over the managerial position in January, replacing Jose Mourinho, and has since led the team to significant improvements in the Serie A standings and a strong performance in the Europa League.
Under Rossi’s leadership, AS Roma has experienced a remarkable turnaround. When he took over, the team was ninth in the league’s standings. However, through a seven-game unbeaten run in the league, Roma has climbed to fifth place. In games across all competitions under De Rossi, the team has won 11, three, and lost two. The only defeat in Serie A came against league leaders Inter Milan, and the other loss was in the Europa League round of 16 against Brighton.
Notably, AS Roma has also reached the Europa League quarter-finals, holding a 1-0 advantage over AC Milan heading into the second leg. This achievement emphasizes the positive impact that De Rossi’s leadership has had on the club in a relatively short period.
The owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, expressed their delight in announcing De Rossi’s continuation as head coach, emphasizing the positive impact of leadership on the entire club.
Dan Friedkin stated, “After meeting yesterday afternoon with Daniele De Rossi, we are delighted to announce he will continue as head coach of AS Roma after this season and for the foreseeable future.”Ryan Friedkin added, “In his short tenure as head coach, the positive impact that his leadership has brought to the entire club has told its own story. Daniele leads with respect and courage, while his strength and deep-rooted belief in the club are truly aligned with Roma’s values, city, and unparalleled fans.”
While the club did not disclose the length of De Rossi’s contract, the decision to retain him as the head coach reflects the confidence and trust that the owners have in his abilities to continue leading the team to further success.
The upcoming fixtures for AS Roma include a Europa League match against AC Milan and a league clash against Bologna. With De Rossi at the control, the team will be looking to build on their recent successes and continue their positive momentum on both domestic and European fronts.
