Dortmund Youngster Youssoufa Moukoko Joins OGC Nice On Loan
Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that Youssoufa Moukoko will spend the 2024/25 campaign out on loan at OGC Nice.
The French Ligue 1 club has an option to sign the striker permanently at the end of the season.
“There is currently great competition in our attack. It would, therefore, have been difficult for Youssoufa to gain enough game time in the coming months to continue his development at a high level,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
“Youssoufa is a special player from our academy who is very attached to this club and has also already been able to celebrate several successes here. We believe that a change and a new environment will now do him good. We wish Youssoufa maximum success for the upcoming season and will remain in close contact with him.”
Moukoko, who declared his desire to leave Dortmund earlier in the summer, commented.
“Borussia Dortmund will always be a special club for me. Here, I have celebrated big successes at the youth level, turned professional, played in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, and been called up for the national team.
“I would like to thank all the management, coaches, teammates, staff, and fans who have accompanied and supported me on my journey. A new chapter now begins for me with a loan until next summer at least, which I’m very much looking forward to and which offers me the opportunity to play regularly. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for BVB from afar in the coming months.”
As well as this, the Ligue 1 outfit will pay 100% of Moukoko’s salary at Dortmund, as they look to beat several sides to the striker’s signature.
It is unclear what price Borussia Dortmund has set for Moukoko if Nice decides to make the transfer permanent.
In total, Moukoko has played 76 matches in the Bundesliga and 12 matches in the UEFA Champions League for Dortmund.
