Chelsea is now in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko and Michael Olise in an effort to disrupt Arsenal and Manchester United’s transfer plans.

Sportxparte understands that Arsenal had been considered the frontrunners for RB Leipzig’s Sesko, with manager Mikel Arteta keen on bolstering his attacking options this summer.

As per Foot Mercato, Chelsea has contacted Sesko’s representatives as they look to secure summer signings for new manager Enzo Maresca, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are in discussions with RB Leipzig to thwart Arsenal’s pursuit, reminiscent of their hijacking of Mykhailo Mudryk’s transfer in January 2023.

Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly, is expected to back Maresca in the transfer market, with a particular focus on acquiring Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Despite Manchester United’s interest in Olise, the report also mentions that Chelsea have approached Olise’s agents and Crystal Palace, who are holding out for a fee of at least £60m for the former Super Eagles prospect.

While Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League last season, that wasn’t enough to qualify for the Champions League.

The Blues might be looking for reinforcements to challenge for a higher position or perform well in European competitions.

Some areas of the squad might be considered weak. For example, reports suggest they might be looking for a more clinical striker or a strong central midfielder.

The new manager, Enzo Maresca, might have his own ideas about the squad and want to bring in players that fit his style of play.
