Liverpool faltered in the Premier League title race with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester United, enabling Arsenal to maintain their lead at the top due to a superior goal difference.

Arsenal secured a convincing 3-0 win over Brighton, while Manchester City fought back from an early deficit to claim a 4-2 victory against Crystal Palace.

Sportxparte examines the current standings of each contender and assesses their remaining fixtures.

Arsenal: 71 points (+51 Goals)

The Gunners are edging closer to their first title in two decades. Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has won 10 games and drawn once (against City) in their last 11 Premier League matches, establishing a significant goal difference advantage during this period.

Almost a year ago, Arsenal’s title hopes were effectively dashed by a disappointing 3-0 loss to Brighton at home. This past weekend, however, Arsenal turned the tables with a commanding win at the Amex, showing their progress over the last year.

Despite their success, a potential distraction looms as Arsenal progress into the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years. Their upcoming matches against Bayern Munich & the possibility of facing City or Real Madrid in the semis could drain their energy.

Challenging away fixtures against local rivals Tottenham and Manchester United await, but Arsenal remains optimistic. The fate of the title is now within their control.

Remaining Fixtures:

April 14th: Aston Villa (H)

April 20th: Wolves (A)

April 23rd: Chelsea (H)

Liverpool: 71 points (+42 Goals)

Liverpool experienced another setback at Old Trafford, similar to their 4-3 loss in the FA Cup quarter-finals just three weeks prior. The match highlighted missed chances and occasional moments of brilliance from United, potentially preventing Liverpool from equaling their record of 20 English top-flight titles.

Manchester City is in a formidable position as they strive to make history by becoming the first team to secure four consecutive English top-flight titles. The decision to rest Kevin De Bruyne for Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa paid off handsomely, as the Belgian maestro notched two goals & set up Erling Haaland to end his goal drought against Crystal Palace.
