Nacho has signed a two-year contract with Al Qadsiah following his departure from Real Madrid.

Sportxparte reports that the Saudi Pro League club announced the development on Thursday.

The seasoned Spanish defender, who led Madrid to victory in both the Champions League and La Liga the previous season, will join the newly promoted Saudi Pro League team as a free agent after the Euro 2024 tournament.

It is worth noting that Nacho completed a medical examination in Germany while representing Spain on international duty before his transfer to Saudi Arabia.

Nacho is among the most celebrated figures in the history of Real Madrid.

Nacho Wants Something New

At 34 years old, Nacho, who made his debut with Madrid at age 10, has achieved a joint-record 26 honours with the club over his 12 years with the main squad.

His collection of trophies includes six Champions League wins.

“I’m so grateful to Real Madrid,” Nacho said at a news conference in Spain on Thursday.

“Until a few days ago, I hadn’t signed up for my new club, and Madrid told me they would be there if I changed my mind. I don’t need a send-off like [Toni] Kroos had to realise how much I’m loved.

“I always had clear that if I didn’t finish my career at Madrid, I wouldn’t want to play against them. I want to experience something new, something different. My life will be turned upside down, but that’s what I want. I’m thrilled.”

Even though Nacho was in deep discussions with the Saudi powerhouse Al Ittihad, the experienced centre-back chose to join Al Qadsiah.

The coach of Nacho at Al Qadsiah will be another Spaniard, Michel, who previously led the team in Khobar to the top spot in the first-division league during his first season at the club.

“I could have stayed one more year, but there’s nothing left to win with this jersey. It doesn’t mean I’m lacking ambition. I thought it was the right time. I am calm and confident with my decision,” Nacho said.
