Yankuba Minteh took just 15 minutes to make his mark on his Brighton debut following his £30 million move from Newcastle.

The Brighton supporters were left in awe as Yankuba Minteh scored his first goal for the club during their visit to Japan.

Minteh’s debut for Brighton & Hove Albion was celebrated with a goal that was well-executed during the team’s tour of Japan.

The winger, who was sold to Newcastle for £33 million, despite not having played for the Magpies, quickly made an impact in his first match against Kashima Antlers.

He scored an impressive goal in just 15 minutes against the J-League team in Tokyo, which led to his substitution at halftime.

Minteh received a precise pass in the Antlers’ half and managed to beat three defenders, then skillfully placed the ball past the goalkeeper in Brighton’s victory over the J-League team with a score of 5-1.

During his last season on loan with Feyenoord, Minteh scored 10 goals for the Dutch club.

However, he was approached by Newcastle during his summer break about a potential transfer, with Everton, Brighton, and Lyon all interested in signing him.

Last week, Eddie Howe revealed he would have rather held on to the speedy winger.

He said: “PSR was tight, it was very late. Very sad to lose Yankuba Minteh and Elliot, two outstanding young players.

“I would loved to have kept them, two outstanding players, really disappointed to lose them both, but I think we were backed into a corner. We were in a very difficult position.”

The ecstatic social media manager at Brighton posted: “It’s a superb solo goal on his Albion debut, cutting inside before firing into the bottom corner from close range! The first of many for Minteh!”

Newcastle’s loan manager Shola Ameobi had been delighted with Minteh’s progress after a successful loan with Feyenoord. He said last month: “Yankuba Minteh done amazingly this year. I think the vision for him was to see if he could play at that level. It was a big jump coming from Denmark with Odense, but what he’s done and the attitude he’s got, he’s achieved that. He is athletically gifted, but we knew he would develop tactically and technically.”
