Juventus Opens Lead In Coppa Italia Semi-Final Over Lazio
Juventus took a significant step towards ending their three-year silverware drought by securing a crucial 2-0 victory over Lazio in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.
The win extended their unbeaten home record against Lazio to eight matches & also put them in a commanding position to reach their 22nd final in the cup.
The match started with both teams being cautious, resulting in a cagey first half with minimal goal-scoring opportunities. The turning point came early in the second half when Federico Chiesa broke the deadlock with a clinical finish after a defense-splitting pass from Andrea Cambiaso. This goal opened up the game, leading to more attacking play from both sides.
Juventus further solidified their lead when Dusan Vlahovic scored his third goal in two games against Lazio at the Allianz Stadium this season. The Serbian striker’s goal proved to be the decisive blow for Lazio, who now face a daunting task of overturning a two-goal deficit in the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico.
The victory was a much-needed respite for Juventus, who had struggled in recent matches, registering only their second win in their last 10 games. The result boosts their confidence & also puts them in a strong position to secure a spot in the final and potentially lift their 15th Coppa Italia trophy.
Looking ahead, the return leg in Rome on April 23 promises to be a thrilling encounter as Lazio will be eager to stage a comeback, while Juventus will aim to maintain their advantage & secure a spot in the final.
