LA Galaxy Signs Borussia Dortmund Legend Marco Reus
LA Galaxy have reportedly signed former Borussia Dortmund player, Marco Reus, to a deal through Dec. 2025 with an option to extend, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After Dortmund’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final this summer, the Dortmund legend became a free agent. There have been reports suggesting that he is considering a move to Major League Soccer, with St. Louis CITY SC and Charlotte FC among the teams he has been linked to.
LA Galaxy reached a deal with Charlotte FC for his discovery rights before signing him.
The report indicates that Reus is planning to travel to the United States in the coming days for a medical and to sign his new contract.
LA Galaxy adds former Bundesliga legend to talented side
Similar to the ongoing discussions this summer regarding Reus’ potential move, the Galaxy currently does not have an available Designated Player slot on their roster, as Gabriel Pec, Riqui Puig, and Joseph Paintsil are already filling those three slots.
Contract details were not revealed, but Reus would make around $1.7 million this year as a non-designated Player.
Incorporating Reus into the team’s already formidable attack would position LA Galaxy as a leading contender for the MLS Western Conference title.
Last season, Reus scored 9 goals in 42 appearances for Dortmund, falling just short of achieving European success.
Galaxy currently top the Western Conference with 49 points, but have played two games more than city rival LAFC who trail the Gs with 47.
As LAFC reinforced their attack with the signing of Olivier Giroud and target Antoine Griezmann, El Trafico just became that much more exciting on Sept. 14.
Before that, the Galaxy faced Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup 2024 round of 32. The team returns to MLS action on Aug. 24 taking on Atlanta United.
