Lamine Yamal Withdrawn From Spain Squad As Barcelona And Spain Dispute Escalates

‎Lamine Yamal has been withdrawn from the Spain squad once again and will miss the upcoming international fixtures.

‎The winger recently underwent medical treatment, reportedly without prior notice to the national team, and must rest for seven to ten days.

‎What began as a public disagreement between Hansi Flick and Luis de la Fuente has now escalated beyond words. The situation has turned into a full-blown dispute marked by mistrust between club and country.

‎Barcelona, without notifying the RFEF medical staff, carried out a medical procedure on Lamine Yamal despite knowing he was scheduled to join the Spanish national team.

‎The treatment requires the player to rest for at least a week. The Federation reportedly learned of the situation only hours before the squad gathered in Las Rozas.

‎As a result of this medical advice, the left winger, who arrived on time for the call-up, has had to be withdrawn and will not be available for either of the two matches, against Georgia or Turkey, both of which count towards qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

‎Spanish Football Federation comment

‎”The RFEF Medical Services wish to express their surprise and concern after learning at 13:47 on Monday, November 10, the day the official training camp with the national team began, that player Lamine Yamal had undergone an invasive radiofrequency procedure to treat his pubic discomfort that same morning.

‎”This procedure was carried out without prior communication to the national team’s medical staff, who only learned the details through a report received at 22:40 last night, which recommended a rest period of 7 to 10 days.

‎”Given this situation, and always prioritising the player’s health, safety, and well-being, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has decided to release the athlete from the current call-up.

‎”We hope for a positive recovery and wish him a speedy and complete return to health.”
