Liverpool Completes Signing Of Giorgi Mamardashvili From Valencia
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
The goalkeeper, who recorded 13 clean sheets in La Liga last season, will continue his at the Spanish club until next summer.
The Athletic has reported that the deal is worth £25m plus £4m in add-ons after the transfer was officially announced via @LFC on X.
Alisson Becker, who has started the Premier League campaign with back-to-back clean sheets, remains Liverpool’s long-term No.1.
They made this decision following Mamardashvili’s outstanding performance with Georgia in the Euro 2024 tournament, where the team advanced to the Round of 16.
His 21 saves in the three group-stage matches were tied for the most by any in the tournament’s history.
It will be interesting to see how this particular transfer affects the future of Caoimhin Kelleher who has been Alisson’s deputy for several years now. The Irishman has been linked with moves away from the club in recent years.
Our new ‘keeper is the club’s first senior signing since Ryan Gravenberch was signed from Bayern Munich a year ago.
As of now, Mamardashvili has made 102 appearances for Valencia, achieving 31 clean sheets across all competitions. He started both of their matches this season against Barcelona and Celta Vigo.
