Liverpool’s Conor Bradley Facing Knee Surgery, Expected To Miss The Rest Of The Season
Liverpool right-back, Conor Bradley, will undergo surgery after suffering a knee injury in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal, the club announced on Sunday.
The setback puts his chances of returning to action this season in doubt. Bradley went down awkwardly near the touchline during stoppage time.
The incident led to a brief scuffle after Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli pushed him off the pitch, believing he was trying to waste time.
Bradley was eventually taken off on a stretcher, and Martinelli later apologised for his reaction in the heat of the moment.
”Liverpool FC can confirm Conor Bradley has sustained a significant knee injury,” the club said in a statement.
”Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days and then begin a period of rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre. No timeframe is being placed on his return to playing at this stage of the process.”
British reports said it would end his season, even though Bradley did not rupture his anterior cruciate ligament. He did, however, sustain damage to the bone and ligaments in his left knee.
It marks another setback for the 22-year-old, who has missed more than 50 games in his young career over the past three seasons due to injuries.
Liverpool will welcome Barnsley to Anfield for the FA Cup third round on Monday.
