Manchester City showed their title credentials with a resounding 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Amex Stadium. The win solidified their pursuit of another Premier League title and also brought them close to the top spot, now just one point behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

The match began with a glimmer of hope for Brighton as Danny Welbeck’s early chance was saved, but it quickly turned into a one-way traffic affair in favor of the visitors. Kevin De Bruyne set the tone with a magnificent diving header, meeting Kyle Walker’s cross to nod the ball into the top corner. Phil Foden extended City’s lead with a deflected strike from a free-kick, before doubling his tally with a clinical finish into the bottom corner.

Phil Foden then scored another goal shortly after, skillfully placing the ball into the bottom corner after Bernardo Silva had regained possession when the home team made a mistake by trying to pass their way out of their penalty area.

Despite a couple of halftime substitutions by Brighton’s manager Roberto De Zerbi, the game remained largely in City’s control. Julian Alvarez added to Brighton’s woes with a goal, and controversy arose when Joao Pedro was denied a penalty after appearing to be tripped in the box.

The result extended Brighton’s winless run to five matches, dealing a blow to their European aspirations.

Manchester City’s victory extends their unbeaten streak to 18 matches in the Premier League and 30 games across all competitions, with 24 wins and 6 draws.
