‎Manchester City are set to announce their first summer transfer signing following comments from Tijjani Reijnders.

‎The Dutch international reportedly underwent his medical on Sunday after City agreed to pay AC Milan £46 million to acquire the midfielder.

‎Reijnders has now effectively confirmed the transfer is all but complete by discussing the aforementioned medical and the plan for this summer’s revamped Club World Cup tournament.

‎Speaking to Gazzetta, he said, “The medical? I couldn’t wait to do it. The plan is to take part in the Club World Cup with City. I’m really excited about that.

‎“Doing that means I’ll get to know my new teammates sooner.”

‎All that remains is for Man City to officially announce the transfer, which they must do before June 10 if Reijnders is to be registered in the Club World Cup squad.

‎The 26-year-old showcased his talent during an otherwise challenging 2024/25 season for Milan. He scored 15 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions, providing five assists, but was ultimately unable to help the Italian club secure a spot in European competition.

‎That said, Reijnders is not expected to be the only new arrival at the Etihad Stadium this week.

‎Manchester City are nearing the final stages of signing Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, following his medical on Saturday.

‎Additionally, they can now expedite a deal for Rayan Cherki, as the French winger has finished his commitments with France at the Nations League finals.
