Manchester United Reverses Ticket Price Hike For Man City Derby

‎In a bid to achieve a full house at Old Trafford for the upcoming derby against Manchester City, Manchester United has reduced ticket prices.

‎Ruben Amorim’s team will host their rivals on Sunday, seeking to achieve an unlikely double. They pulled off a stunning comeback win at the Etihad Stadium in December, scoring late to secure the victory.

‎However, United have been forced into unusual measures to ensure a capacity crown is in attendance this week.

‎The club was criticized in November for raising ticket prices for members to a minimum of £66 while also removing concessions for children and supporters over the age of 65.

‎The Sun reported that Manchester United faced challenges in selling out the Manchester derby at the original ticket prices.

‎As a result, members can now buy tickets for £40, while concessions are offered at £25.

‎Additionally, upcoming home matches in the Premier League are set to be available to members for less than the previously established price of £66.

‎Fan protests are expected to take place at Old Trafford on Sunday, as sections of supporters voice their frustration with the club’s ownership.

‎It was confirmed this month that season ticket prices would rise by 5% at Old Trafford next season, with game categorization also introduced to mean the highest profile fixtures will cost more.

‎Sir Jim Ratcliffe argued that those measures were necessary, having revealed the club could have gone bust by the end of the year.

‎A fan group of Manchester United, organized a protest before the recent draw with Arsenal, attracting thousands who participated in a march ahead of kick-off.

‎In light of the upcoming match against City, 1958 has called on supporters to stage a sit-in after the game. This initiative is part of their ongoing efforts to voice their concerns regarding the club.

‎Chris Haymes, a member of the group, said, “We’re going to get people to sit in their seats.

‎”MUST (Manchester United Supporters Trust) did a flash survey and they reckon there’s going to be about 7,000 concessions, OAP people, who are not going to renew their season tickets.

‎”So, they’re trying to price them out of their seats, so we’re going to tell you to sit in your seat, stay in your seat. That’s your seat that you paid for.”
