Manchester United’s Amad Diallo Could Miss The Rest Of The Season Due To Injury
Amad Diallo has sustained a significant ankle ligament injury during a training session with Manchester United, raising concerns that he may be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old, who currently stands as Manchester United’s leading scorer in the Premier League with six goals, has been excluded from Ruben Amorim’s squad for the upcoming clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
He is set to undergo a scan to evaluate the full extent of his injury.
Reports have said that the Ivory Coast international will be sidelined for the remainder of this season, but sources said that it is still too early to say definitively that Diallo will not play again in this campaign.
According to sources, the best-case scenario at this point is that Amad Diallo will be unavailable for several weeks. This situation poses a significant setback to Manchester United’s aspirations of qualifying for European football next season, whether through triumphing in the FA Cup or the Europa League.
In a post on social media, Amad said, “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.
“I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for”.
Amad has emerged as one of the few highlights of United’s season since being handed a regular starting position by Amorim following his appointment as head coach in November in the wake of Erik ten Hag’s dismissal as manager.
The former Atalanta prodigy signed a five-year contract in January as recognition for his impressive performances.
However, his injury-enforced absence now compels Manchester United to depend on out-of-form forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee to deliver the goals needed to sustain their chances in the cup competitions and enhance their league standing, which currently places them in the lower half of the table ahead of the Spurs match.
Forwards Marcus Rashford and Antony both left United on loan in January to Aston Villa and Real Betis, respectively, with no ability to recall either player to boost Amorim’s squad.
