‎Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as Nottingham Forest manager after just 39 days in charge.

‎A statement after Forest’s 3-0 defeat by Chelsea said, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.”

‎Forest’s fans jeered at the final whistle and chanted “you don’t know what you’re doing” after he substituted midfielder Douglas Luiz, and his position is now in jeopardy.

‎Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham Forest, attended the match and left the director’s box in the 63rd minute, soon after the home side squandered another scoring opportunity.

‎Forest had shown better form in the opening 45 minutes but conceded twice in three minutes early after the break.

‎Josh Acheampong and Pedro Neto put Chelsea in control, before captain Reece James added a goal in the 84th minute.

‎Chelsea’s only setback came when Malo Gusto was sent off late on for a second bookable offence their fifth red card in six matches.

‎Head coach Enzo Maresca, serving a suspension, watched the game from the directors’ box.

‎Just a few rows behind him sat Evangelos Marinakis, whose next move could be another high-profile dismissal this season.

Postecoglou’s tenure now stands as the shortest in Premier League history, surpassing Les Reed’s 39-day spell at Charlton in 2006. During his brief stint, he managed just five matches.
