PSG Coach Luis Enrique Suffers Collarbone Break In Cycling Accident
Luis Enrique, the PSG coach, broke his collarbone in a cycling accident on Friday and is set to undergo surgery, according to the club.
The 55-year-old Spaniard, known for his cycling enthusiasm, previously led PSG to their first Champions League triumph last season. PSG have begun their Ligue 1 title defence with three straight wins.
“Following a cycling accident on Friday, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique was treated by the emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone,” the club said in a statement.
“The club expresses its full support and wishes him a swift recovery. Further updates will be shared in due course.”
Because of the international break, PSG’s next game is on 14 September at home to Lens, and three days later they host Atalanta to open their Champions League title defence.
Ousmane Dembélé limped off the field with an apparent right hamstring injury during France’s World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine. He left the match early due to the issue.
