‎According to reports, Real Madrid has triggered Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen’s £50 million release clause in one of the summer’s biggest transfers.

‎The young center-back has been a regular starter since making his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in December, following an injury to Marcos Senesi.

‎He has quickly established himself as one of the top defenders in the Premier League, attracting interest from several leading European clubs.

‎The 20-year-old was linked to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool, but Madrid have now made the first move and have activated his release clause.

‎As reported by journalist The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Spanish international is close to signing for Los Blancos, with only personal terms to be agreed upon.

‎Huijsen may be one of Xabi Alonso’s first signings as Madrid’s new manager when he takes over at the end of the season.

‎This comes as Carlo Ancelotti prepares to leave to become the head coach of Brazil. Additionally, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is already set to join the Spanish club.

‎It seems Madrid is building a strong defense to contend for both La Liga and the Champions League titles again.
